Adult Services

colorbrain2     We offer a variety of services. Individual psychotherapy is the cornerstone of those services. The main therapy approach we use is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Dr. Ryan has been practicing this modality for the past 29 years. It is a problem-solving approach that works at the source of one’s self-defeating thinking patterns and helps patients incorporate a strategy to develop different thinking skills to get better and stay better.

We also administer several different types of clinical testing:

  1. Personality and Intellectual Testing services using a comprehensive battery of objective tests to identify areas of strengths and challenges for individuals.
  2. Computer cognitive screening tests to identify various areas of challenge personal issues; such as memory, comprehension, attention deficits, chronic pain, and psychiatric problems
  3. Brain Mapping or Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG), a neuroscientific test to identify real time connectivity issues in the brain, front to back, side to side. Certain conditions patients have, such as stroke rehabilitation, or traumatic brain injury from any source, need a QEEG pre and post treatment to facilitate their treatment and determine beneficial changes in brain function . It is also an excellent baseline test for inclusion in one’s personal medical records for future reference. This test may qualify for limited insurance reimbursement depending on their individual contract.

Harry’s Story

Harry sought out the services of Dr. Ryan because he was fearful that he was developing memory problems. His results on a comprehensive cognitive computer screening test showed that his fear was unfounded and he was having some normal recall problems related to temporary on-the-job stress and suggested ways he could learn to reduce that stress in real time.

John’s Story

John had a severe traumatic brain injury ten years previously and was having attention and comprehension problems interfering with his employability. A QEEG before beginning treatment indicated areas of his brain that needed specific attention using neurofeedback training. Pre – and – Post results showed positive changes in brain function that enabled him to regain better on-task functioning overall, such that he could return to work.
